I wonder if this is moving along the lines of a spectrum disorder such as Asperbers in regard to Autisim. Now we have Bi-polar II and Bi-polar perhaps at one end with schizo-affective and schizophrenia disorders at the other. It's interesting but does it really change anything. Does it help with finding better medications for treatment? --Deirdre

Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Share Genetic Roots
A trio of genome-wide studies – collectively the largest to date – has pinpointed a vast array of genetic variation that cumulatively may account for at least one third of the genetic risk for schizophrenia. One of the studies traced schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, in part, to the same chromosomal neighborhoods.
