Methadone in Malaysia

Below is an interesting story on methadone treatment in Malaysia. From the U.S. Dept. of State Website:  "Malaysian legislation provides for a mandatory death penalty for convicted drug traffickers.  Individuals arrested in possession of 15 grams (1/2 ounce) of heroin or 200 grams (seven ounces) of marijuana are presumed by law to be trafficking in drugs." So it shouldn't surprise us that Methadone Treatment is being met with hostility and that treatment itself was only established in 2005. So let us be mindful and grateful for the imperfect but tolerably better addiction treatment dispensed in the US. Are there any human rights watch campaigns for suffering drug addicts?
